Storm with damaging winds cuts power to thousands, downs trees

The latest storm to sweep across western Washington, bringing wind and rain, cut power to thousands and caused tree damage as flood watches on rivers continue throughout the region.

At the height of the outages, more than 250,000 customers were without power. Find a list of the latest power outage numbers here.

Reports of trees down on homes and apartments are increasing after several days of heavy rain soaked the soil, increasing the danger of falling trees and landslides. One home in Tacoma has massive damage from a fallen tree.

Wind gusts as high as 112 mph at Alpental were reported by the National Weather Service (NWS). White and Snoqualmie passes had gusts of 99 and 82 mph, respectively, with a 71 mph gust on Whidbey Island.
