A variety of precipitation types expected as Inland Northwest showers return | Weather

Thursday brings the first of many waves of showers expected over the next several days in Eastern Washington and North Idaho. With temperatures trending slightly cooler, a light glaze of freezing rain is possible early in the morning for parts of the Upper Columbia Basin and the Waterville Plateau.

For most locations, showers will start at as light snow on Thursday with minor accumulation. A transition to rain is likely late in the day as a break from the showers starts to arrive.

The next wave of showers arrives on Friday which will could also start by towing the line between rain and snow, but it should fully turn to rain as snow levels rise to around 3000 feet by Friday afternoon.

An atmospheric river is aimed at the northwest this weekend into next week. This will keep wet weather sticking around with mostly rain expected. Highs will be in the 40s with lows just above freezing.
